Rover was always the butt of jokes amongst peers. Wanting to be accepted and liked Rover would laugh along pretending not to feel hurt. All Rover wanted was to be liked, to have friends. Rover knew his peers where not real friends but they were paying attention. Something was better than nothing.
Tiddles wanted to tell Rover it was the wrong kind of attention – they did not have Rovers best desires in their mind, only their own shallow needs to look good in front of their peers. But Rover would not listen, yet Tiddles continued to love Rover.
